Those two words, 'New Prime', sum it up. It's new, it's blue, and the lengths are uniform. This is ASTM Grade 500B structural steel tubing in perfect condition and ready to paint.
Prime: New without splits - perfect pipe
Used: Sorted by Grade (#1 - clean, slick; #2 - light pitting, may have splits
Sorting:
When used pipe comes into our yard, it looks alot like the picture to the left. Used pipe is like a used pickup, some are like new and some are in pretty rough shape. The first thing Ranchers does is sort this material out giving you confidence in what you are purchasing.
Used Prime #1:
Heavy wall 55,000 pound minimum yield steel. Clean, straight and slick pipe. This is commonly called drill stem. Comes with threaded or plain ends (saw or torch cut - please specify). Length choices:
Range 1: 20-24 feet
Range 2: 30-34 feet
Used Fence Grade #2:
Our best seller! Same heavy wall 55,000 pound minimum yield steel. Clean and straight but may have very light rust, light pitting or a test pop. This is our most popular materials for corrals. It also comes with threaded or plain ends (saw or torch cut - please specify). Length choices:
Range 1: 20-24 feet Range 2: 30-34 feet
Used Economy Grade #3:
This is very usable pipe (we don't sell junk) but because the pitting is deeper than we like to see, or it has some buildup on the inside, we downgrade it to #3 and we sell this pipe cheap.
What is a test pop?
A test pop is a split in the pipe usually from 1 to 3 inches in length. It occurs when the pipe is pumped full of water and pressure tested to 7,000 p.s.i. The picture to the left shows a typical test pop.
